Developments in the field of literature should always be taken seriously. This is because literary events serve as precursors to political and social events. Poets and novelists, thanks to their powerful intuition, sense the slightest movements in the social sphere with their entire being and feel them in their hearts. They convey these feelings to society only through literary forms. In this way, they cause the feelings they experience to become widespread, multiplying certain emotions through memetic effects. For this reason, the messages conveyed by literature must be taken seriously and analyzed thoroughly. In this brief book review, we will focus on the political and social messages contained in Michel Houllebecq's novel Submission, as well as the emotions it spreads and popularizes.
